So sad to see they've closed this location! I was just there a few weeks ago. My absolute favorite cupcake shop in the Bay Area! I also see their Napa location is temp closed. I hope they'll reopen!

Sometimes, unexpected things can bring smiles. Sadly, this review is written with mixed feelings. My banker friend told me about their pending closure on Friday 3/22/2024. I never tried or heard of them but she is a fan. After finishing my transactions, I went to a neighborhood restaurant to have lunch. While eating, she texted me to stop by the bank on my way to my office. Lo and behold, she handed me a box (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=EsIR6EQ-buVwOC-dfpxDNQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), suggesting that I share it with my family. Having an early evening engagement, I didn't get home until a little after 10 pm. The next morning, I opened the box and saw the colorful cupcakes (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=-Z2M2pazy3XE8emyuUrbsw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). I chose the berry lemon cupcake (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=UsJe2rxLIS-vVnkPRSWiSA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), which is not a regular menu item; love the fruity flavors and nice to eat cupcakes while fresh. A day or so later, I tried the red velvet cupcake (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=1-6ICYOhWxxMS6GNs9LytQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), which, due to my time delay, was a bit on the dry side. I enjoyed it as the frosting cut that a bit. My other family members didn't comment but they ate them in a timely manner after I brought them home. Sadly, that Friday was their final day in business meaning this is a one and done for me. Good luck, Sift Desserts, in your future endeavors and do keep your fans up to date if you reappear or return under a different guise.

While I was out shopping nearby, I decided to pop into this spot for a sweet treat. I grabbed a brownie cake truffle and a salted caramel macaron to go. The interior was cute and cozy, with a bar area perfect for enjoying desserts quickly. The brownie cake truffle was like a mash-up of fudgy brownie and chocolate cake pop, coated in chocolate--it hit the spot. The macaron was alright, with a nice balance of caramel flavor in the filling without being overly sweet. Overall, nothing mind-blowing, but both treats were pretty good. It's a decent spot to snag some desserts when you're craving something sweet.

A friend introduced me to Sift years ago and I've been obsessed with their signature pink champagne cupcake ($4.35) since then. The location is a bit out of the way, so I only get it once in a blue moon if I'm in the area. The cake itself is fluffy and not dry at all, but the buttercream frosting is way too sweet for me. I typically scrape off 90% of the topping and am happy with just a thin layer of champagne buttercream. FYI- there's an additional 5% SF mandate surcharge tacked onto your bill. It's one of the few non-restaurant places I've encountered in SF that add on this fee to customers.
